18.4 - Worst Case

If there are thousands of Earth-like planets that can be colonized and if viruses and bacteria at least make colonization by aliens difficult and if there are enough raw materials in the galaxy, what reasons could there still be for treating humanity with a hostile attitude?

1) Competition
Humanity is just beginning to explore space. There could therefore be extraterrestrial species that want to prevent humans from spreading further into space.

2) Prey
Another aspect is that we are interesting to aliens simply as food or trophies.

3) Experiments
Alien species could use us for medical, as well as other, experiments. Blood, organs, tissue and genetic material from people are likely to be interesting here.

4) Slaves
Alien species are looking for slave laborers with „intelligence“.

Planets are always interesting for study purposes, namely planets that contain life. Our planet, the fauna and flora on it and the people are therefore also interesting as objects of study for biological, medical, sociological, psychological and genetic investigations.
Therefore, reports of kidnappings and subsequent investigations have some probability of reality. In many cases, the aliens' aggressive nature and approach are described. As the cattle mutilations show.
